Another Weekend in Salt Lake

My mom and Jeff are getting ready to finish their basement, so we headed down to Salt Lake to help them get started!

I told Matt that the dog would never ride in my car but I guess I lost that battle. He at least compromised and made her sit in her kennel in the backseat. It was so funny to watch her beg Matt for treats whenever he was eating! He said that he was on a diet- sharing half his food with the dog counts as a diet?

Don't you just want to squish that face? He's always been a good sleeper in the car!

Ollie was good in the car too. She left Ben alone and slept almost as long as Ben did.

Ben gets so much attention at my mom's house. I love every minute I get watching him with my mom, stepdad, and sisters.

Ben LOVED sharing lemon sorbet with grandma!

We went for a wintry walk and again, Ben was out!

While the boys worked, we played! That's how it should be, right?

Spring Adventures? Or Is It Still Winter?

Spring decided it wasn't ready to come for a while, so we had winter for WAY TOO LONG. Some of the things we do in the winter include...

Go grocery shopping. I seriously never go grocery shopping as much as I have since I had Ben! It's more of an outing than anything else now!

Feeding Ollie! He just realized that she was down there and thinks it's funny to give her snacks!

We also spend a lot of time playing together! I can't get enough of this cute little face!

Baby boy spent a lot of the winter with a cold. I had to take quite a few days off to stay home and take care of him, which was actually quite wonderful. Even when he is sick, he still is a happy little stinker!

One day I was home and stepped on something sharp. When I picked it up, it was Ollie's tooth! Gross right? I had no idea that puppies lost their baby teeth the same as people! Obviously I've never had a dog before!

Visit to Uncle Lance and Aunt Kendra

After we got back from Florida, Matt, Ben and I headed down to Lance's house to build closets. The boys worked like crazy and the girls and kids played like crazy!

We've been feeling like Ollie was getting pretty big, but after a couple days with Rudy, she still feels like a tiny puppy! Rudy is much better with kids than Ollie is too. Rudy would just let Ben sit next to him and pet him and Ollie was running around knocking people over.

Matt and Rudy have a special connection. The food connection. Rudy likes food. Matt likes to share food with dogs. It's perfect.

While the boys were working, Kendra and I (and all the kids) did some PiYo! It is so fun to workout with someone else!

Kailee was the cutest little mommy to Ben. She is an awesome big sister and cousin!

Even though it was February, we were all dying from being inside! We decided to take Ollie for her first walk and bundle up the kids in the strollers. It was one of those perfect sunny winter days!

Where's Ollie?

Looking at Ben when he's sleeping is one of my favorite things! He always finds the cutest/funniest ways to get comfortable, and it was no different at Lance and Kendra's house!

The boys worked so hard and I didn't even take any pictures of the closets! After we left, Lance and Kendra got them painted, and moved everything back in (can you imagine having to take everything out of your closets for a couple weeks? Ah!) and they look amazing! I'm so excited for them!

May the Force be with You

When we were in Disney, I spent HOURS looking for the perfect present for Ben. I literally would carry something around a store trying to decide if it was the right thing and then I would always put it back. Then I found the Star Wars bath toys. Yes, we were in Disney. I should have bought him Disney bath toys. I almost did. But I am too much of a nerd and bought the Star Wars bath toys. Good thing I did! He and I both love them! Okay, I love to play with them and he loves to try and eat them. We also have epic battles in the living room.

Episode One
Scene One: Ben is caught in the middle of the battle between the dark side and the Jedi. He doesn't know what to do!

Then Ben helps R2D2 fly across to enemy territory and attack the storm troopers!

Scene Two: Ben decides that R2D2 is a tasty snack.

MMMMMMM!

Scene Three: Ben comes back to the battle and it is already over. No one has survived. Or is there someone hidden away?

Scene Four: R2D2 survives and brings everyone else back to life!

Except that storm trooper. He's gotta go.

Episode Two
Scene One: The Jedi have recruited the Jed-duck in their battle against the forces of the dark side. Again, Ben is caught in the middle. After attacking the storm trooper and eating R2D2, no one knows whose side he is on.

To be continued...

7 Months!

At seven months, this boy was wearing 12-18 month clothes, size 3 diapers, and had three teeth! He mostly sits, but he FINALLY figured out how to roll from back to front so he was starting to wiggle around! Ben loves water! We take him to the pool to practice swimming and wearing his life jacket and he has so much fun! He is still super ticklish and so easy to get to laugh!

Little Moments

We went up to Midway to celebrate Opa Hans' birthday and Ben was acting pretty grumpy! The only person who could get him to calm down was his Papa. He snuggled up with Papa and took a little nap and woke up much happier! He loves his Papa!

In our efforts to keep Ben happy, Matt tried just about everything he could think of!

While We Were Away...

While we were gone, we kept getting pictures of Ben from my mom and Jenny of all their adventures with Ben! It made me miss my baby so much!

We also got pictures updating us about Ollie. Todd was watching her and he was worried that she would run away on the job site so he tied her to the trailer. When he went to look for her later she was gone! She had chewed her way through the rope tying her to the trailer and was running around playing! She might have been harder to watch than Ben!

Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and the Kennedy Space Center!

Matt and I tried to be strategic about which days we spent at which park. We decided to head to Magic Kingdom on Thursday to avoid a weekend crowd. It was a gorgeous day! It finally started warming up, which ended up being a good thing!

We finally figured out how to use our Fast Passes, so we were more strategic about those too! We got on Splash Mountain and ended up being on the FIRST ROW. Totally by chance. Yes, we got soaked. Then we had a Fast Pass right after for Splash Mountain, and again, got put on the FIRST ROW. Good thing it was sunny! We dried off in line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad after that!

It has been almost 10 years since I have been to Disneyworld. In that time, there were a lot of changes! It was so fun to go through all the new stuff with Matt. We were super sad that we didn't get reservations to "Be Our Guest" restaurant, but loved walking through the new Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid themed section. I also loved the new Circus version of Toontown! We stuck around until the light parade and fireworks. We picked a great spot for the parade. We were right next to the usher person and right on the edge of the guest section, so every time someone tried to stand next to us or in front of us the usher would make them move. It was so funny seeing all the people who thought they found prime spots get told they had to move! Matt was so impressed with everything at Disney. It was fun going with someone who hasn't seen everything and seeing it through their eyes!

While in Magic Kingdom, we had to get Mickey ice cream bars! It's tradition!

On Friday we went to Animal Kingdom! We got there early so we could see all the animals on the safari and it did not disappoint! Most of the animals were eating, or had just been fed, so they were all out and roaming around! The giraffes were walking along right next to our truck!

The best part of Animal Kingdom was Everest. It was SO FUN! Matt and I kept hopping back in line to ride it again because it's one of the only real roller coasters in Disney. Matt did a way funny GoPro video on the ride, but I don't think I can post it because the guy next to Matt was swearing the whole time!

After we finished up at Animal Kingdom, we had dinner at The Rainforest Cafe and then headed over to Downtown Disney for some walking and shopping. Mostly walking. And people watching. It was fun to be somewhere that had so much activity at night. Our little town of Richmond, and even Logan, gets very quiet at night and we weren't used to being somewhere with so much going on! We left when we could barely keep our eyes open and there were people still walking in!

On Saturday we went over to Epcot. Epcot is a hard park to go to for just one day because there is so much to do if you want to see everything! We spent time doing the tour of the countries, with extra time spent in Great Britain picking out candy that Matt loved from his mission in Scotland. We also spent a bunch time looking through the art stores at all the amazing Disney art. Someday I'm going to have the coolest play room full of Disney stuff!

Matt and I couldn't decide which country to eat dinner at so we headed out of Epcot and over the the Boardwalk for a reservation at a fancy Italian place. We got there a little early so we took a romantic (if Matt saying, "Take a picture of me, I look so good" is romantic) walk around the Boardwalk and checked out all the shops and hotels.

After dinner we walked back over to Epcot and got yummy ice cream in France before the fireworks over the water! It was another late night, but worth it for the Disney fireworks!

Sunday was our last day in Florida. We had barely seen Aunt Dianna at all, even though we were staying at her house, because we were out early in the morning and back pretty late every night. We decided on Sunday that we wanted to spend some time with her and go see the Kennedy Space Center. I didn't really know what to expect at the space center, I thought it would be more like a museum that we could see in a couple hours, but it was HUGE! We had to take a bus through the property to different parts of the museum, and because we were headed back to Utah we had to rush through most of the exhibits. Next time we go, I'm definitely planning a whole day there!

Aunt Dianna bought Ben some Kennedy Space Center shirts! They were a little big when we got home, but so cute!

We caught up to Cassie at the airport who had come down to Florida with one of her friends for a long weekend. We missed out on a romantic Valentine's Day but had an amazing trip just the two of us. We hadn't done anything like this in our marriage so it was extra special to go on this trip after having Ben and Matt building his parents' house! Hopefully we can go again when Ben is old enough to appreciate it!
