The Dirty Dash

Here PIG PIG PIG! Yes Kendra talked me into running the Dirty Dash with her and some friends up at Soldier Hollow in Midway. Hello 10k? Never run a freaking race in my life, and I'm thinking I can handle a 10k mud obstacle course? Adrenaline 100% of the way, I would never have made it if it were just running. All the mud and obstacles kept me in the game. Jumping over walls, crawling through big pipes, walking through a lake, and slipping down mud hills made things definitely interesting. Most people threw away their shoes after, all I threw away were my socks and my shirt, there was no way they were coming clean! I would definitely do this again, although I need to go with someone who will walk with me! Kendra and Jenna are too hard core for me!

This was the last obstacle, a huge mud pit! People were doing swan dives into the mud, it was crazy!

I did it! I am just as proud of myself as Matt is proud of himself for shooting his elk. Both of those proud moments happened on the same morning!

So Proud

He did it. He is super excited to say the least. It took two days to cut all the meat, and will take four months to stuff the head! So sometime next year we will have to find some space for a huge elk head.

Now what are we going to do if he shoots a deer next month? Too bad all the hunting isn't over... Tim's muzzle loader hunt next week, the regular elk hunt, and the deer hunt.

Widow's Month

October in the Fischer family is technically "Widow's month" because the women rarely see the men due to HUNTING SEASON. Well my "Widow's month" started early this year because of Matt's elk hunt. It is so cute to see him super excited, he was counting down the days until he could go hunting. He tried to get off work an extra day early, but that idea was quickly shot down considering that he told his boss not to count on him for SIX WEEKS due to all the hunts he is going on! As of today, he has not shot his elk, but that could change. He wants one so bad!

So luckily, I have had people taking care of me and filling my schedule! Last weekend, Matt's first weekend gone for his hunt, I started by heading up to Logan for Jenni's baby shower. She and her hubby Jared are expecting baby Trenton next month! I am always up for throwing a party, and Jenni just had moved into a new house, so I threw a September/apple themed shower in her new house. I love getting together with our cute roommates, and everyone came, even baby Olivia, Lindsay's cute girl! We had fun fighting cute baby/new house jealousy and hearing all of Jenni's plans for her new little one!

Then, Rachel (who I worked with at Copperview) and her husband Newel, invited me to Huntsville for an overnighter. We went boating with her family, had lots of food, and they introduced me to frisbee golf, which I learned is an actual game that is very fun! We played up at Snow Basin resort, and it was beautiful!

This week, I had to visit my hubby because I was missing him! So I took Wednesday off and went up to Strawberry on Tuesday night for campfire and night rides on the four-wheeler, then we woke up MEGA EARLY to go hunting! This was my first experience with all this, riding four-wheelers and walking around in the pitch black morning listening to scary elk noises. I pretty much fell asleep sitting there on the mountain looking for elk that were so far away that I couldn't even see them through the binoculars, but hey... I was there supporting my husband and he was thrilled to have me come share this with him. I hate that he is gone 24/7 for this, but he loves it and I can't stop him from doing something he loves so much.

(All I have to say is... THANK HEAVENS FOR MY COVERALLS!!!)
