Fischer Powell Trip

We just got back from a week at Lake Powell with the Fischer family, and it went pretty well. I did not take a single picture, so look at Kendra's blog or Jenny's blog when they get to blogging about the trip. It was so fun to spend time with family and enjoy the warmth, sunshine and no serious sunburns! However we did have some issues that were not so fun:
1. The boat was not in proper working order- meaning the boys were hesitant to drive it lest it die on the water and we get stuck out in the middle of the lake. I could spend every minute on the boat, so it definitely sucked only going out three times in a week. We actually came home a day early because we didn't want to sit around in 100 degree heat with a boat that didn't work. I got up on a slolem ski for like a second before crashing and never really had another chance to try. Matt and I are hoping to be able to buy a boat for next summer so we can do the boating trips right!
2. The wind was sucky! We had one night were we couldn't take the boat out at all, and one whole day! It was to the point where you had to sit in the trailer because sand was being blown in your face the whole freaking time.
3. We had a lot of truck and trailer issues on the way home. Tim's hitch on his fifth wheel was pretty much ripping out of the trailer so he had to deal with stupid insurance people for a while, which always sucks. I felt soooo bad for him. Randy's truck had issues getting home too. AND the stupid boat trailer freaking broke when the boys were loading the boat! It had obviously been hit a million times by idiots who don't know how to drive and was to its breaking point. Luckily, we know someone who fixed it for us, but seriously! I wanted to go down to Club Rec and ream into those idiots who own that place.

When we have a boat, boat trips are going to be MUCH better.

Photo Catch-Up

So my camera and I have not been that close lately, well we have been close (it lives in my purse) but I have not gotten it out forever! So these are a little old.... Sorry...

Fishing...
Matt bought me a fishing license and fishing pole this year because he wants me to join him when he goes fishing. This time we went on a night that it was raining in Salt Lake. I thought, no way are we going fishing in the rain, but yes we did, and luckily it wasn't raining in the place we went. (Up by Strawberry?) I was the only girl with Matt, Diet, Timmy, and Nate. I tried not to be too whiny when it got cold... I actually did pretty good, although fishing is mostly luck!

It was cold! I was wearing jeans, coveralls, a sweatshirt, my carhart coat, gloves, and Matt's hat and I was freezing!

Baby Shower...
My cute friend from college, Lindsay, is having a baby! She is actually my first close friend to have a baby so it has been fun hearing about everything. She is now around 35 weeks, so getting close! I got to throw a baby shower for her and we invited all of our college roommates! Lindsay and I roomed together when we were freshmen, and we also had Jessica and Amanda and Jeana there from our freshman year! Then Lindsay and I lived in the same apartment when we were sophomores and all our cute roommates from that year came too, Natalie W., Natalie N., and Jenni! It was one of those moments where you find out who your friends are for sure... I love these girls and am so happy we are all in touch still. I miss our crazy college days, and it was way fun to reminisce about them together.
I did Lindsay's shower in an "Olivia" theme (from the picture book) because she is naming her daughter Olivia and everything turned out so cute. Nat helped with the games and dinner, and it was sooooo fun and yummy. We sent the boys out together to go golfing during the shower and I think they had a good time too. Another blessing I have is that Matt is such a good socializer, he seriously can spend time with anyone and totally love it.

Babysitting...
I have been babysitting the same kids for about three years now, and when Amy and Rod asked me to watch the three little ones while they took the two older kids to New York, of course I said yes. We had to do a little maneuvering because I still had a day left of school, but it went well. We picked them up on Tuesday after work and had them until Sunday afternoon. Matt even had them for almost a whole day by himself, running them to swimming lessons, and playdates, and summer school... he did great. I have to say, the most fun I had was singing in the car. The kids know all the cds in the car and would request songs. Mostly the music was Glee soundtracks and Michael Jackson, so it was music I could jam to as well. The twins have a dance to "Thriller" and it is freaking hilarious. You know when there is the evil laugh at the end? I cannot hear it without laughing myself because the boys would sit and giggle at that part (I guess they don't understand that the laugh is supposed to be scary). Overall, we had a good time. It made me think a lot about what it means to be a parent, and all the things I would have to give up to do it, and I was glad for the very realistic perspective. I realized how much I love things in my life right now, and how sad I would be to lose those things, like spending time with Matt, going on motorcycle rides, being spontaneous, sleeping, being alone, having privacy, having energy, doing whatever I want, etc. So sorry mom and Diet, no babies for us for a while! We will be happy to babysit the new Fischer babies coming this year instead!

It was funny to see the boys relax in their carseats, I tried it in the front seat and it wasn't that comfortable.
