Ben's Blessing

On August 30, Matt and I blessed Ben in the Cherry Creek Ward in Richmond. We love our ward and were so happy to be able to share this special day with not only our family and friends, but also our ward who have been so welcoming and supportive. We had a ton of family come up to Richmond to help us celebrate!

I searched high and low for the right blessing outfit, and finally found one that I liked. He almost didn't fit! Myrna made him some darling booties that also almost didn't fit! My grandma Decker made his gorgeous blessing blanket to cap it all off.

The blessing itself was so beautiful. Matt told me he had thought about what he wanted to say, but was also going to let the Spirit guide him. He blessed Ben with everything that I would have asked him to say and more. It was thoughtful and filled with sentiment. I was very emotional as I listened to the wonderful blessings that would await Ben in this life if he is faithful. I am so proud of Matt and touched by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Ben is the 179th person in the Norton family! Thank heavens my grandma and grandpa Norton got married 67 years ago on Valentine's Day and started our family!

My sweet grandpa is 93 years old. Such a cool experience to see a brand new little baby with such a wise and experienced man.

Four generations of Fischer men. Ben almost has more hair than all of them!

Ben got his middle name from his great grandpa Hans. Matt and I both really look up to him and love this amazing German man. Ben is lucky to have such an amazing heritage.

Cassie was the niece and nephew entertainer for the day. She read book after book to these little cuties and they loved it!

Nanny and Papa Fischer with baby Ben!

Most of the great grandparents! My grandma Decker came up to see Ben for the first time, and Papa Decker had to stay home sick. We also are missing grandma and grandpa Pullan, who live in Las Vegas.

We are as different as they come, but sisters are the best! They are awesome aunts!

Ben, Matt and I are so blessed to have so much amazing family.

We also had Ryan and Stacey and their kids, Chelsie and Seth, Chason and Brooke and the girls, the Shields, Titensors, and Stephens make it out to the blessing and lunch after. What an amazing day!

Alex, mom and grandma just couldn't get enough!

Ben was captivated!

Some Lost Pictures and Some New Pictures

So my camera is broken. It still takes pictures, but the screen goes in and out, so sometimes you can't see what you are taking a picture of. For this reason, I have avoided taking pictures on my camera. The problem is that I still do take pictures with my camera so then I forget about them later! Here are a few of the lost:

Jeff wasn't quite sure how to hold Ben that first time. He's getting the hang of it now!

Blakelee and Reagan love Ben. I love watching them interact with him.

Look at that chin dimple. Your whole pinkie could fit in there!

Alien face!

So I took pictures of everyone with Ben. I posted all these pictures. Then I realized that I didn't have a picture of Jenny with Ben! This was pretty important since she was actually there when he was born. Luckily, Matt was on top of it, and took a picture of Jenny with Ben while we were at the hospital.

Again, one of the pictures on Matt's phone that got lost along the way. This is Ben's first time in the carseat when we were getting ready to leave the hospital. I love his little T-Rex hands, like he is asking, "What is going on here?"

Matt and I love sitting on the porch. So does Ben.

Ben has a couple pair of plaid shorts that I love! He looks like a little man when he gets all dressed up!

I don't really do tummy time as much as I should because Ben is a spitter! So here was my compromise:

"What are you looking at?"

"You're looking at me because I'm so cute."

"Wait! What's over there?"

We bought the headphones for football games so he wouldn't go deaf. Obviously, we didn't put them on him for the first game.

Jenni Shields gave us this little play center. Ben hasn't figured out how to reach out and touch anything, but he likes to look at it!

Faces...

Game day!

Ben still likes to snuggle with me. I love watching his faces while he's sleeping in my arms.

First day at church went great! He slept through sacrament meeting and relief society!

Ben is getting so big. He is wearing some 3 month clothes and some 6 month clothes. His 6 month tops fit pretty good, but the 6 month bottoms are a little too long! Long torso!

Cassie bought Ben a couple of these "auntie" shirts. He wasn't too sure about it...

Snuggles...

Ben LOVES sucking on his fist. He gets all slobbery, but he is happy! He hasn't figured out how to get his thumb in his mouth yet, thankfully!

I could take 100 pictures of Ben every day. I love all his faces and expressions. After 8 weeks, I still can just sit and stare at him all day! I am sad that I don't get to see his sweet face during the day. I'm sure Heather is having a blast watching him while I'm at work!
