Family Pics- 2013 version

Back in June, the Fischer family got together for some new family pictures. Our last picture was taken in 2010 and we have had three babies in our family since then, Harrison, Reagan, and Kailee. Finally we will be able to update the family picture. The only problem is that we will need a new one soon, with Kamie pregnant with her second baby, due in January!

Don't I have the cutest nieces and nephews! Good pictures Kendra!

Babysitting Reagan

Kamie asked if I could watch Reagan on my last Friday before I go back to work, and of course, I was very excited that I could say yes! Luckily Matt had the day off work and we could watch her together, because Reagan is a busy girl and it's better to have two people keeping an eye on her than just one!

Tim brought Reagan over in the morning and I fed her a normal breakfast. Matt watched her while I was in the shower, and when I got out, he had fed her more breakfast, although I'm not sure if Doritos and Swedish Fish count as breakfast.... haha. Then we headed up to the bookstore to buy our new game day shirts and show Reagan around. Maybe someday she'll be an Aggie, right? You can never start the brainwashing too early...

Matt carried her on his shoulders, but she was grabbing his eyeball to stay up!

See! She's an Aggie!

Then we took Reagan to the awesome Logan Zoo. She couldn't get close enough to the animals. The exhibits are not exactly child-friendly so we had to hold her so she could see better. This proved to be dangerous as she was constantly trying to get in the exhibits.

Feeding the ducks... We kept a close eye on Reagan during this because she had already put a lot of non-food items in her mouth in just a few hours. Luckily, she realized that if she ate the duck food, there would be nothing to feed the ducks, and didn't try to eat the duck food.

Also watched the little fingers close on this... I think these ducks would have eaten her fingers off if they got close enough to the fence.

Again... couldn't get close enough!

After going through the whole zoo once, we went around again. Matt was looking at the elk and when we turned around we saw Reagan doing this... yes. She is licking the ground. I swear Kamie, I watched your daughter! I just was laughing too hard to stop her, and Matt was too busy taking this picture to stop her. She would walk a couple steps, then stop and lick the ground, then walk a few steps and stop and lick the ground. I wonder if different places tasted differently? I guess you never know unless you try it!

In the car on the way home, she kept saying, "Towie, cheese!", wanting me to take a picture of her. I love that I actually got one of her smiling at the camera. That never happens!

After the zoo, we had lunch and watched Brave, hoping that Reagan would get tired and want to take a nap. The movie did not put Reagan to sleep, but did put Matt to sleep. So Reagan and I had some girl time and I gave her a pedicure. She was fascinated for the first foot, but then wouldn't let me paint her toes on the other foot! I couldn't return her to Tim and Kamie with only one foot painted, so I distracted Reagan long enough to paint the other foot. I then had to pin her between my legs and hold her down to get this picture of our cute toes. I'm sure someday she'll slow down enough for me to take some non-action shots of her!

Matt finally woke up from his nap after Reagan and I had taken a short walk and she found the apple trees on our street. She had already eaten her way through one apple when Matt woke up and wanted one for himself. So we walked down and picked two more apples and Reagan and Matt sat still for a few minutes to eat. Then Reagan started playing soccer with her apple and it went in the garbage, then the garbage went on the counter so Reagan would stop pulling stuff out of it.

We had to buy Reagan an Aggie shirt while we were on campus, and had to show it off when Tim came to get her!

What a fun day. Busy, but sooo fun. I am so glad we were able to spend time with our cute niece! We love you baby girl!

4 Years

On Thursday, August 15, Matt and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary. We don't go crazy for our anniversary, we tend to buy ourselves gifts throughout the year, so we just usually go out to dinner or something. This year, Matt had to work, so I took him a drink and some treats around lunchtime and we went to Olive Garden before going to Matt's softball games that night.

The funny part about this day is that Matt and I share our anniversary with some of our closest friends. On August 15, 2008, one year before Matt and I got married, I went to the wedding of my college roommate Jeana and her husband Marc. They got married in the Manti temple and I went with some of my other roommates to their reception that evening in Nephi.

From left: Lindsay, me, Amanda, Marc, Jeana, Natalie W., Jenni

One year later, these same people were there on my special day too. Jeana and Marc drove up from Nephi for our temple sealing and basically spent the evening of their first anniversary at our wedding and reception!

From left: Marc, Jeana, Jenni, me, Lindsay, Tom (Lindsay and Tom got married in May of 2009)

So every year, Jeana texts me in the morning a "Happy Anniversary!" text, which I happily return to her. I guess I'll never forget my anniversary with Jeana reminding me every year!

So happy anniversary to my best friend, my other half, the best thing that has ever happened to me... yep I'm talking about you, Matt. I love you and look forward to all the years we have in our future.

XOXO

Slowly... Slowly

Matt and I are getting close to start building our house! We are under contract on a lot we like in Richmond and have our house plans finished. We are now in the process of getting our plans approved and getting bids for all the materials and labor for building. I look forward to documenting our progress as things start happening!

We have decided that we are going to save some money while we build, and are going to move in with Randy and Jenny and the kids for a few months. While I was at work, I saw a bunch of boxes and had to grab them to start packing up books. I have to use smaller boxes to keep them light (mostly so people will actually help me carry them!) and couldn't pass them up. So even though we aren't super close to getting ready to move, I decided to pack up all my books. It was pretty sad. I am still in mourning. I think I am going to put them in my classroom rather than in storage so I can be closer to them. SIXTEEN BOXES FULL OF BOOKS. It's like heaven.

Sad, sad, sad. Bookshelves should never be empty.

I had to document our funny division of space in our spare bedroom. This is Matt's side of the room. This is where he keeps his work clothes, gun safe, hunting clothes and gear, and of course, Spike.

My side of the room. My craft board, bookshelves, and project table.

The rest of my side of the room. Includes my craft supplies (the entire left bookshelf is all my crafting stuff), and other books in the right bookshelf (textbooks, church books, MS books).

I am a little sad to start packing everything up, because I have LOVED this apartment, but I am way excited for a few months of some crazy times before we get to move into our very own house!

An Unexpected Trip Way Down South

My baby sister Cassie is getting ready for her first year of college! I can't believe that she is so old. She has been working at Rue 21 in Lehi and her manager was able to transfer her to the St. George store so she could have a job while she goes to Dixie State. Her new manager wanted her to start work a week before school started, so the night before she had to move down, Alex and I took Cassie out as a "sister's date" before she left for school. We were actually going to go laser-tagging but there were only two other people there, and they were little kids, so we went to dinner instead. It was so fun to talk about Cassie's plans for going to school, and living away from home for the first time! It took me back to when I was just a college freshman and everything I went through in those last days of summer back in 2006.

After dinner, Alex and I decided that we wanted to go with Cassie and my mom to St. George to get her set up in her dorm. I hadn't planned on going to St. George, so I had nothing, no toothbrush, pajamas, nothing, but we did it anyway! We had to run over to Alex's apartment to get her stuff, and while we were there, I had to illegally park next to this awesome sign. I love the addition of the word "absolutely"... like that makes a difference to people. Ha!

We left early the next morning (and only had to turn around once to get Cassie's medicine), and made it to St. George by lunch. I drove with Cassie, and taught her how to use her cruise control- definitely an important skill if you're going to drive back and forth from Salt Lake to St. George. My mom and Alex drove the Tahoe with Cassie's stuff and, most importantly, her cute bike! That was her graduation gift from my mom and Jeff, and I thought it was so cute! Can't you just picture Cas cruising around St. George on her sweet bike?

Cassie has her own room in a dorm with five other girls. It was fun to set everything up and look at all the stuff she bought for college. I fear that the shelf in her closet is going to fall down with all the clothes she hung on it! After getting her room all set up, we went to the grocery store to fill up her refrigerator and pantry too.

After all the shopping and running around picking up stuff for Cas (we also went to the Dixie bookstore so we could all have something with the Dixie name on it), we were pretty exhausted and going a little crazy from the heat in St. George. We were trying to take a good picture of all the girls together, and ended up with some of Alex and her "lightsaber" (really the roll that the rug was rolled around). Alex wouldn't let us throw it away because she needed it. Being a Star Wars person myself, I understand. Notice the presence of the lightsaber in the next few pictures...

Finally we did get a good shot. Not too bad considering I had to balance my camera on the roof of the Tahoe and set the timer, right?

We were able to spend the night in a hotel and take Cassie out to breakfast all together the next morning before heading home. I was so happy we got to spend some time together, just girls, and be with Cassie as she gets started on her exciting college experience! I am so excited for her, and I know she is just going to love being in college! It also gives us a reason to head down to St. George too!

Park Day Swimming Party!

I've posted before about our weekly adventures on "park day" each Tuesday of the summer, but this was by far the biggest adventure of the summer! Jenny hosted "park day" in her backyard and it was the most well-attended of the summer. In the picture you can see that there were three swimming pools, three shade canopies, and about a million people! The moms spent a few hours sitting in the shade and talking, while the kids spent their time running from pool to pool, squirting each other with squirt guns and just playing! We had a big BBQ and everyone had a great time!

This summer we met the Shields family, who has a six-year old named Lindsay. She and Claire were fast friends and spent the whole day playing together.

The squirt gun boys! This turned into quite the war! The kids tried to hide behind the moms so they wouldn't get squirted!

Reagan didn't want to drink water! Diet Coke is much better!

Harrison saw the kids getting water from the cooler and had to try it himself

Popsicles!

That's a lot of kids!

Freaking cute Wyatt with those big blue eyes!

And the chair fight begins.... This chair was the best purchase for the summer! I hauled it everywhere I went, and by this time, the babies figured out that it was the perfect size for them. Harrison and Reagan fought over it all afternoon. Notice Reagan trying to get a drink of my Diet Coke after she had finished off her mom's drink.

After the party was over, Melissa and Jenni Shields were still hanging out with Jenny, Kamie and I. We looked out in the yard and could not find Wyatt anywhere. All of a sudden, he pops out from underneath the pool that he had turned upside-down! Soon the girls thought that was a great place to play and had to join in the fun hiding under the pool.

Chair wars continue... By this time, every cup in the yard had turned into a water toy

That evening we had another BBQ for dinner. Nate Shields joined us, along with Tim and Randy, and we all had dinner. We had some chips left over from the BBQ and the kids sat on the back porch grazing until it was time to eat. Brad sitting with the two-year-olds, Harrison and Carter Shields.

We even had some baby sharing going on... Reminds me of the picture I took of Harrison squirting water in Reagan's mouth while we were at Bear Lake for the fourth of July, only this time, Reagan is sharing her drink with Harrison!

This was the last park day that I could go to, and it was so much fun. All the best parts of summer rolled into one afternoon: swimming and playing in water, BBQ, chatting in the sun with the women, watching the kids play until they couldn't play anymore! Great day!
