UEA Break

UEA break couldn't come at a better time. October is the busiest month for me, from hunting, conference, parent-teacher conferences, birthdays, Halloween, and all the fun Halloween stuff to do, I just need two extra days off to fit it in! Needless to say, I didn't go to the UEA conference like I should have...

We spent Thursday in Salt Lake, running errands and spending time with Matt's family. That night, we had Tim and Reagan over, along with Randy, Jenny and all the kids. It is so fun to see Reagan and Harrison around each other, because they are so close in age, but sooooo different in personality!

After messing around for a while, we ditched (I mean we left) the kids with Diet and Myrna and went bowling. This is a lot of crazy fun, although the people near us probably did not think we were fun at all!

On Friday I was kidnapped by my mom and Alex and we spent the day shopping. As much as I hate shopping, it is definitely fun to challenge my very fashionable mom and sisters to find me something that I like. I am very picky. They were not pleased to see the cowboy boots and Wranglers that Matt got me for my birthday. We had a great time though, in between shopping, going to lunch and messing around!

After shopping I met up with my friends from Copperview Elementary at Gardner Village to see the witches! Jaime and Rachel both were able to come, and it was so fun to catch up. We all teach at different schools now and it is fun to compare how things are going in our different schools and districts. Plus, Jaime just had a darling baby girl and it was so fun to see the baby for the first time! I definitely miss these girls and need to see them more often. That is one of the worst things about moving to Logan, that I really miss the people I have worked with at other schools. I wish I could create a super school with all the people who I love and who are awesome teachers!

After going to Gardner Village, Matt and I met up with Tim and Kamie and went to the Haunted Village at This is the Place. This is our third year going to the Haunted Village and we almost didn't go back after last year's experience. I am glad we went. This is one of the most unique haunted experiences I've ever had, and I love walking around the village at night, being outside and going through the old pioneer buildings, and being scared by someone hiding in a bush. I'm not one for blood and gore, and this is the perfect Halloween creepy place to go! This year Tim and Kamie were a blast. At the very end, Kamie scared one of the employees when she screamed in the employee's face!

After a very busy two days in Salt Lake, we headed back to Logan for the USU football game against New Mexico State (which we won), and our friends Dustin and Emily Wallis came up for the game. We spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, which was well-needed!

Fixing the Dryer

Matt is amazing. Yesterday our dryer started dying. It would run, but there wasn't any heat so nothing was getting dry. I am basically wearing my old lady underwear because I waited until the last possible moment to do laundry, which means the dryer not working is a huge problem. We decide that we should probably look for a new dryer, because Matt thinks it will be very expensive to fix.

Today I ask someone at work how to fix the dryer. I get an idea of what we can check, but I also make plans with my dad to use a dryer that he has just in case we can't fix it. When I get home, my amazing husband is buried behind the dryer that he has taken apart and is checking to find out what is broken. He has been watching YouTube videos and reading articles and talking to parts stores for hours at this point. After checking every possible part, he finally finds a part that isn't working and calls the store to see if they have a replacement. They do! But... They close in fifteen minutes. So Matt books it to the store to buy the part, and comes home and fixes my dryer.

I am incredibly proud of Matt for figuring out how to fix the dryer and saving us a bunch of money. He told me later that he was proud of himself for finding out what was wrong and getting it fixed himself. And this is how a crappy situation becomes a great day.

Thriller 2012 Edition

Yes, I did make it to Thriller this year at Kingsbury Hall! This is my seventh year in a row seeing the show, and being in Logan made it even more fun this year because this is where I saw the show first! This year Jenny, Steven, Kari, and Kendra all came with me. We had great seats and it was a great show as always! I didn't get my usual picture on the steps of Kingsbury Hall because it was pouring rain the entire time! I love this tradition, and especially love to bring people with me! Someday I'll get Matt to come...

Funny Fourth Graders

I love teaching. (Some days I like it more than others) This story was told to me by my math aide, who works with two of my cute boys every day...

"The boys are starting to figure out how to earn Skittles by good behavior. They also know that I will eat their Skittles if they misbehave. So today I was working with one of the boys and I look at the other boy and he has a Skittle up his nose. I ask him why he put it in his nose and he says, 'You won't eat it if it's been in my nose!' The other boy thinks this is a great idea, and also puts his Skittle in his nose. I can't believe they figured out a way to cheat my system! When I'm cleaning up I find the tissues with their Skittles in them, stuck inside due to being in their noses. I plan on bringing the tissues back to them tomorrow and saying, 'You didn't eat your Skittle from yesterday, so here it is!'"

This pretty much made my day.

Sisters Weekend!

Cassie came up to Logan a few weeks ago to come to a Utah State football game with me because Matt was hunting. We had so much fun at the game! It happened to be the homecoming white-out game. Cassie didn't know much about football, so I was explaining the rules and how to play while we were watching the game, and during halftime Cassie tells me that she "totally gets football!" Yay! Success.

 Cas was pretty shy at first, but my crazy cheering, along with all the people around us (we sit pretty close to the student section), got her cheering in no time. She even rang the cow bell! When she was done ringing the bell, her finger was cut and bleeding! So, being an expert nurse, I used my straw wrapper and wrapped her all up!

We had so much fun cheering, eating yummy game snacks, and talking, and it always helps when your team wins! (That's why I love being an Aggie!) Cas stayed overnight and we hungout on Sunday together. I miss living so far away from my sisters. It was so much fun to get together for a fun girls weekend!

(Can you believe how grown up she is? Senior in high school now! It was fun talking to her about her college plans... I'm trying to get her to come up to USU!)

Strawberry

Every year we spend some time camping at Strawberry during the boys' many hunts. This year, it was Timmy's turn to shoot something huge. He had the same bull elk tag that Matt had last year, only he shot an elk way bigger than Matt's! We didn't make it up there the morning that Tim shot the elk, and Matt was pretty mad that he wasn't there. He was there, however, to help cut up the meat and take the head to the taxidermist though! Haha!

The best part for the boys is the hunting, however the best part for the girls is the camping! Lance and Kendra bought a trailer just before the hunts started and Randy and Jenny bought a new trailer too, so it was extra fun for Matt and I to have our pick of four awesome trailers to stay in for the weekend! Matt took me for a couple rides on the four-wheeler, we went fishing on Diet's boat, but mostly we spent the weekend playing with the kids and talking.

There is a family who always camps in the same corral with the Fischers who brought his horses up for hunting (this is the same guy who helped Matt haul out his elk with the horses). This year he took the kids on rides, and they were thrilled!

I never can seem to get a picture of Reagan when she is really smiling, so I was pretty stoked to get this super cute picture of her playing!

This is one of my favorite little trips during the year because we always seem to have so much fun just messing around together. We even got to watch and listen to the Aggies win! What more could we ever want?

3rd Anniversary Adventure

This year our anniversary was not very exciting, which is why I have not posted anything about it. We had big plans (to go out to dinner after Matt got off work) that were ruined. I woke up and thought Matt had already gone to work, so I took a while getting ready. When I finally made it downstairs I saw this big pile of blankets in the bathroom. Then I realized that it was not a pile of blankets... IT WAS MATT. Yes, he was asleep with his head on the bathroom floor, sick as a dog on our anniversary. So, I went to Sam's with Jenny and got some sick boy food and spent the day with my hubby watching TV and force-feeding him juice and crackers. We did eventually get our dinner together about a week later
