Flash Back Friday: Flowmotion

At the end of ninth grade, there was always a dance for the ninth graders going to high school called "promotion." My friends and I wanted to have an "after-party" for the dance. We called it "flowmotion." Don't ask me why. I can't remember. We got all dressed up for the dance, Hawaiian theme, and came back to Erika's house after and went swimming with like a million people. I am so glad Erika's parents did not force her to stop being friends with us after that! It was nuts!

Jenn, me, Erika, Sarah

Cassie was 8 years old

Before the party. I didn't go anywhere without a slurpee in those days.

Amie, Amy, Sarah, Erika

Night swimming

Ew. Ew. Ew. The hottub was that full the whole night!

My friends and I all had a sleepover that night and the next day all the ninth graders went to Lagoon.

This is one of the only pictures I have of our friend Colby. Colby died about a year later in a hiking accident. He is the second person from the left, behind Erika. This was the group of boys that my friends grew up with and we were all very close throughout junior high and high school.

Easter Eggs!

I talked Jenny into letting Matt and I dye eggs with them this year. I don't really like hard-boiled eggs, nor do I love dyeing the eggs, but I do love playing the egg cracking game every year with my family! So we dye eggs so we can bust them up later playing smash your opponent's egg with your own. It's awesome! Anyway, we dyed our eggs and here is how they turned out!

Okay, I'm lying.

This is really how they turned out. My camera has some cool effects to make colors more vivid. I wish my eggs turned out that bright.

I was looking at old pictures and found this one of Matt and I one year before Easter. We didn't dye eggs, but we made egg shaped cookies and took them with us to the sand dunes. Can you believe how young Matt looks? Holy cow he looks like a grandpa now in comparison!

Cassie's Prom!

Holy crap. How is Cassie a senior in high school? How is her senior year almost over, and how is it already time for Senior Prom? Every time I see Cassie I am taken away with how much she has grown up. I hate being so much older than she is because I feel like since I've been in college and married I've missed her growing up!

A couple weeks ago we were in Salt Lake for the weekend and it happened to be Prom at Cassie's school. She didn't get asked, but decided to go stag with a group of friends. I am so proud of her. She did not go to many dances in high school, so I was excited to see her go to this last one. She looked so beautiful. I mean really beautiful. Way prettier than I was when I was in high school. She borrowed my dad's Hummer to drive and had a great time at dinner and at the dance.

She could barely get into the car, it was so lifted. She had to use a step-stool from my mom's kitchen to get in and out. She also had to hitch her dress up practically around her waist so it wouldn't get tangled in the pedals.

When I was looking at Cassie's pictures, I had to find some of my high school dance pictures! I love looking at what a crazy person I was back then and all the random dates I had to dances:

This was from Winter Formal when I was a sophomore. It was girl's choice and I drove my dad's Mercedes to the dance.

This is Alan. He asked me to Monster Mash when I was a sophomore. Our group went as truckers.

This was Dan, he took me to Prom when I was a sophomore. I borrowed this dress from a girl on my softball team.

This is Graydon. He took me to Homecoming my junior year. My mom hated this dress, but I bought it anyway!

This is Ronnie. I asked him to a dance as a sophomore but he couldn't go because he wasn't 16, so he asked me to Monster Mash when we were juniors. Our group went as people stranded on an island.

This was Winter Formal my junior year. I went with Garrett to this one.

This is Trevor. He took me to Prom when we were juniors. We went and saw Star Wars III for our prom activity the night before the dance.

This is Travis. He was one of my very good friends, and he asked me to Homecoming. I also borrowed this dress from one of the girls on my softball team.

This is Tanner. I asked him to Monster Mash senior year. Each couple in our group went as a "famous couple". We were Santa and Mrs. Clause. Okay. Slutty Mrs. Clause and sexy Santa.

This is Nate. He took me to most of the rest of the dances when we were seniors, some at Skyline and some at Hillcrest. Another dress my mom hated that I bought anyway. I was quite the scandalous one at Hillcrest in this dress, although at Skyline I fit right in!

Thank you to my mom who was a champ at taking pictures before I left for dances. And for helping me get ready every time even though she often didn't like what I was wearing!

Delicious

Okay, so for the past year I have been posting how AMAZING Logan is, and seriously, it is. But there is just one tiny, tiny thing that Logan does not have, THAT WE NEED.

A good donut place! Seriously. I miss Dunford donuts like you wouldn't believe. Every time I'm in Salt Lake, I'm like, "Oh. I should run over to 7-11 and get a donut while I'm down here." Geez, that's ridiculous that even 7-11 donuts in Salt Lake are better than bakery donuts in Logan.

So I regularly complain to Jenny about this problem, and on Sunday we watched Wreck-It Ralph with the kids. When it gets over, Jenny is totally craving donuts. I'm like, "I'm always craving donuts." So of course, being Jenny, she wants to MAKE donuts. I can barely make toast. Making donuts? Never going to happen, unless Jenny is around. Plus, we are both on diets and totally can't go crazy. So Jenny opens up the pantry and whips out some stuff and does some kitchen magic and... voila... DONUTS.

I was able to contain myself to just two (okay I also had a donut hole), but the kids went crazy! Brad and Claire each almost had a dozen and Harrison was so thrilled he was sticking pieces of his donut in his ears (I had to put him in the tub after... there is no way a rag was going to clean those babies out)! I even got this pic of his "cheese" face. Whenever you say "cheese" he puts on this goofy smile and lifts his chin up at you. Priceless!

Okay so I know this post was supposed to be complaining about Logan, but this is another reason why I love living here. Living so close to my family, and the most amazing cook I know. Definitely has its benefits. (Matt likes to take leftovers from Jenny's to work the next day to eat in front of Todd to make him jealous... haha!)

Quotes

If I'm ever out shopping and see a sweet quote, I take a picture of it so I maybe someday can make it for myself, or just share it with others who'd appreciate the humor.

Definitely true.

Story of my marriage.

Sent this picture to Alex. We played Mario Kart all the time when we were kids!

Can't describe.

I try to tell Matt how true this is. He has all brothers so he doesn't understand.

Disney!

Phone Pics

I am so happy that I figured out how to get my pictures from my phone onto my blog. Now I don't take very many pictures from my phone (hello! I have a nice, expensive camera), so there aren't many, but sometimes there are moments that need documenting...

Matt is the uncle that the kids love to wrestle! On Brad's birthday the babies loved climbing all over him!

A while ago... Matt can't share any of the kids? Oh wait, they just want to sit with Matt and ONLY Matt

Last fall Matt and Randy played softball together in Smithfield. One night while Jenny was at work, I was keeping an eye on the kids. I definitely owe them a refund on babysitting money for that night because Claire somehow got her head stuck in this fence! I was laughing, long enough to take a picture, and then we figured out how to release her from the fence. Pretty sure I lost my job as a babysitter forever!

One weekend I had to drive Brad from Salt Lake back to Richmond. He was a chatterbox for the first fifteen minutes and then he was OUT! He looked so uncomfortable in the back seat...

After I was diagnosed with MS, we had to go to the optometrist. Matt needs glasses so he tried on every pair. And I mean, EVERY PAIR. Especially the hideous ones!

One night Matt and I volunteered to watch Reagan for Tim and Kamie. I had to run an errand and Matt was left alone with Reagan. Well, he propped her up next to him on the couch and they watched the Jazz together! He said she was so good!

May 2010: Watching the McKinlay boys, Andrew and Zachary. I love them so much!
